Cheryl Yeoh is a resourceful entrepreneur, established speaker and ecosystem builder.
Having spent 12 years in the US between New York and Silicon Valley, she has returned to Malaysia to serve a bigger national agenda.
Cheryl is the founding CEO of the Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), which is established to develop the social entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem in Malaysia, and also within ASEAN. MaGIC focuses on three core activities for entrepreneurs: educate, expose and accelerate. Its core program, the MaGIC Accelerator
Program (MAP), accelerates 75 early-stage companies from all over ASEAN in a 4-month program, making it the largest and most robust in Asia. MaGIC is also a platform for the private sector and corporates to learn about startups. It houses the most comprehensive database of startups and investors in the country.
Cheryl received two full scholarships for both her Bachelors and Masters Degree in engineering at Cornell University. Earlier in her career, Cheryl was a management consultant in New York before co-founding CityPockets, a digital wallet and secondary marketplace for daily deals, and later Reclip.It, a personalized shopping list application, that was acquired by Walmart Labs in 2013. Reclip.It was selected as “Best of the Web 2012” by Instyle Magazine and received funding from prominent investors in Silicon Valley & New York.
Cheryl was recently named one of four “LinkedIn Influencers” in SEA, “Top 40 Under 40 by Prestige Magazine” and voted the “Top 10 Most Influential Person in Malaysia.” Previously, she was “Top 44 Female Founders Every Entrepreneur Should Know” by Mashable, “Top 10 Women in Digital” by L’Oreal, and was selected as one of 10 Global Women Ambassadors to hike Mt Kilimanjaro. Cheryl actively mentors and shares her knowledge at the Founder Institute, Peter Thiel’s 20Under20, the Lean Startup Machine Weekend, as a columnist in The Star, on her personal blog, and various speaking platforms globally.
